Catching the music fever at a very early age DJ Young Einstein has been a pivotal part of the LA under-ground hip-hop scene since the early 90’s. The key component to one of the most prominent underground hip-hop band’s Ugly Duckling as beatmaker, co-writer and producer (signed to Interscope and Universal Records) Einstein is responsible for their upbeat, catchy sound using samples and complex scratch routines.
Einstein has played and toured the world as a unit as well as a solo DJ, reaching over 40 countries worldwide, headlining and sharing the stage alongside some of the industry’s most notable talent.
As an avid record collector and owner of over 20,000 vinyl albums, Einstein’s love for funk, hip-hop and soul has strongly influenced his music and DJ sets and has earnt him a huge cult following. Sticking true to his roots Einstein plays strictly vinyl in his sets but he continues to influence artists of the future with his unique style and extraordinary knowledge of music. In the book Behind the Beat (Ginko Press) Einstein is featured as 1 of 28 notable music producers alongside J Dilla and Mario Caldato (Beastie Boys).
The uptempo sound of Ugly Duckling continues to get used for television and commercials across the globe, as well as in Hollywood. Recently signing a solo deal with EMI records Einstein can currently be found in the studio re-working a selection of EMI’s iconic Library Music catalogue as well as working on an album exclusively for use in Film and TV with his UK Publisher District 6.
