UK rap veterans Dr Syntax and Pete Cannon have carved themselves a niche with their irreverent, often comedic take on hip hop (with a touch of bass music and jungle for good measure).
Witty, relatable rhymes are paired with heavyweight production values showcasing an eclectic mix of styles and influences.
The prolific duo have a string of well-received releases to their name, including three albums and two EPs since their full-length debut ‘Killer Combo’ dropped in 2014.
Previous collaborators include UK hip hop luminaries Dirty Dike and Lunar C, and US indie rap legend Del The Funky Homosapien.
Dr Syntax first appeared as a regular collaborator and guest with the legendary Foreign Beggars crew, featuring on their first three albums and performing with them at countless live shows worldwide. He embarked on a solo path in 2007, releasing his acclaimed debut ‘Self Taught’, beginning a prolific run of releases over the next decade. Songs such as ‘My House’, ‘Middle Class Problems’ and ‘Hire Me’ showcase his trademark humour and creativity to a tee.
Until 2017 he fronted Manchester-based band The Mouse Outfit, appearing on all their albums to date and rocking hundreds of crowds in venues and festivals all over Europe.
Pete Cannon is a one-man production powerhouse, having worked with US rappers such as Action Bronson and Guilty Simpson, as well as a who’s who of UK hip hop talent, notably most of the ever-growing High Focus roster.
He produced ‘Lost Generation’, a UK top 5 hit for Rizzle Kicks, and Ocean Wisdom’s single ‘Don’, from his Top 40-charting album ‘Wizville’. The track was used internationally for the advert for EA Sports’ ‘FIFA 19’ game.
In March 2018, his solo single ‘Bang Bang’ was used on an advert for Apple’s iPhone X, bringing his music to an international audience of millions.
He has recently made forays into jungle and drum and bass as tour DJ for Hospital Records’ artist Inja, and featured on Inja’s album ‘Blank Pages’. He has released 2 EPs on legendary jungle label, Kniteforce Records.
Together, Dr Syntax and Pete Cannon have a new release and video for March 2019, and will be embarking on a promotional tour.
