Renowned for their explosive live shows, Smerins Anti-Social Club have been firing up festival crowds and gig-goers throughout the UK for nearly ten years.
The 10 piece line-up use the raw ingredients of ska, funk, dub, drum’n’bass and swing to full effect in their epic, brass-heavy instrumentals. Regular guest vocalists, including sassy Aussie songstress Nuala Honan, and special guest vocalists such as Dub Dadda and Tenor Fly are bringing new dimensions to the band but their sound still ripples with the unmistakeable energy, colour and humour that has always defined their not be missed performances.
Past accolades included headline performances on stages at Glastonbury, Greenman, Shambala, Larmer Tree, Fusion and Secret Garden Party, the release of their classic festival anthem ‘Dr Who’ featuring MC Tenor Fly on Tru Thoughts records back in 2010 and the exclusive live feature on 6 Music when listeners of Nemone’s week day show voted for the band to cover, record and release Aled Jones ‘Walking in the air’ which they released for Christmas 2011.
February 2013 saw the release of their long awaited debut album Primordial Cordial which blends live studio performance with multi-track wizardry and a smattering of exciting guest vocals, the record captures the eclecticism and energy that Smerins have always embraced as a band and expressed when they perform live.
Currently bouncing between studio and rehearsal room writing and recording new material, the band will be available for bookings again in from May 2016, throughout festival season and for a UK venue tour in Autumn.
